COMPANY BACKGROUND:

Montell Polyolefins and Geomembranes

Montell Polyolefins is a global producer of polypropylene, polyethylene, and other advanced polyolefins. Montell’s Catalloy process was developed in the late 1980’s to expand the range of properties available with polyolefins. Resins from the Catalloy process are used widely today in demanding applications, such as automotive truck bumper systems, autoclaveable biohazard bags, oil line pipe insulation, roofing membranes, and geomembranes.

ASTRYN Geomembranes

Montell produces several flexible polypropylene (PP) resins based on its Catalloy technology which have been specially designed for the geomembrane market. These ASTRYN resins are reactor products and not blends, and are delivered as fully formulated compounded materials. ASTRYN resins can be extruded, calendered or blown into sheet which demonstrate:

  • easy handling -- high flexibility
  • high toughness and puncture resistance
  • excellent 3-D conformability
  • low coefficient of thermal expansion
  • good heat seaming characteristics (hot air, hot wedge or extrusion)
  • low crystallinity -- good environmental stress crack resistance
  • good chemical resistance and barrier properties
  • good weatherability and UV resistance

ASTRYN resins have been used for smooth, reinforced, and textured geomembrane sheet.
